TEDxChannelside District Is Open for Applications
TEDxChannelside District will host its 2026 event at the Straz Center in downtown Tampa, with over 1,000 guests expected for a full-day experience. This is a city-scale event with strong production value and a clear emphasis on impact.
Read on for details on how to apply…
The 2026 Theme
Awaken the Possible. Bold Voices. Big Ideas. Lasting Change.
They are looking for ideas that expand what people believe is possible and that create meaningful change, particularly within Tampa Bay and beyond.
If you are submitting, you need to be able to clearly articulate:
What your core idea is
Why it matters
How it creates change
How it connects to their theme
Who This Stage Is Strong For
This event appears well-suited for:
Founders with a clearly defined framework behind their work
Professionals who can ground their insights in research or lived experience
Civic leaders and innovators shaping cities or communities
Artists and creatives with a strong thesis behind their work
Individuals making tangible impact in Tampa Bay
They explicitly reference local impact. If you have ties to Tampa or Florida, highlight that. If you do not, make sure you clearly explain how your idea serves or speaks to this community.
It’s a Nomination Process
This event uses a nomination model, which means you can nominate yourself or someone else.
Nomination link: https://www.tedxchannelsidedistrict.com/nominate-a-speaker
The form is thorough and idea-focused. You will be asked to provide:
A proposed talk title
Your core idea
Why the idea is worth spreading
How it connects to the 2026 theme
The impact you hope to have on the audience
A category selection
A brief bio
Links to past speaking experience (if available)
What uniquely qualifies you to give this talk
How to Approach This Strategically
Before filling out the form, I recommend writing your idea in one sentence.
For example:
A new leadership model that expands access to power
A science-based reframing of burnout recovery
A framework that helps cities design more human-centered public spaces
A model for increasing social mobility through education reform
Then ask yourself: what changes if this idea spreads?
If you cannot clearly answer that, refine it further.
With an audience of 1,000 people, your idea needs to travel well. It needs to be understandable, relevant, and non-promotional. As always with TEDx, this cannot be a business pitch or a sales funnel in disguise. It must align with TEDx content guidelines and remain idea-first.
