This one is for the artists, performers, and creative collectives in this community.
TEDxOhioStateUniversity is accepting performance group applications for their 2026 main event. If selected, you’ll present a ~10-minute performance on the TEDx stage at Fawcett Auditorium.
This is not a talk application.
This is about art as an idea, expressed through performance.
Who this is for
This opportunity is specifically for Ohio State–affiliated performers, including:
Current undergraduate students
Graduate students
Faculty, staff, or administration
Alumni
Performance groups connected to the OSU community
If you (or your group) are already creating meaningful work through movement, sound, voice, or visual expression, this is a rare chance to bring that work to a TEDx stage.
What kind of performances they’re looking for
TEDxOhioStateUniversity is open to a wide range of creative formats, including:
Speaking or singing
Poetry or spoken word
Dance
Music
Visual art or design
Interdisciplinary or experimental performance
TEDx performance slots are curated to complement the ideas on stage, offering moments of reflection, embodiment, and emotional resonance for the audience.
What to expect if selected
If your application moves forward:
You’ll be invited to a short meeting with the TEDxOhioStateUniversity Speaker & Performer Selection Team
Your group may be asked to allow the team to observe a rehearsal
You’ll collaborate with organizers as part of the broader TEDx experience
Selected performers will present their work live on March 7, 2026, as part of the main TEDxOhioStateUniversity event.
What the application asks
You’ll be asked to share:
Your contact information and pronouns
Your affiliation with Ohio State
Your performance group name
Whether you’ve participated in a TEDx event before
Your rehearsal schedule (for potential shadowing)
The medium(s) you plan to use in your performance
You’ll also need to confirm your OSU affiliation to meet eligibility requirements.
How to approach this application
A few gentle reminders if you’re applying:
Focus on the experience you create for the audience, not just technical skill
Think about how your performance supports or expands an idea
The selection team should quickly be able to understand what you’ll bring to the stage
